Karen Donnelly

I qualified as an ACCP in 2019 from a nursing background and currently have nearly 30 years of experience in Critical Care. High quality care and standards have always been integral to my role and I have always had a keen interest in maintaining throughout my career.  As clinical educator, I was involved in the National Working Group for Critical Care Nurse education, which encompassed devising the standards, writing the curriculum, and collaborating with Higher Education Institutes. 

Currently I am a committee member of the ACCP Northern and Yorkshire region and the North of England Intensive Care society.  These roles are driven by my desire to enhance, lead and develop quality and standards not just for ACCPs, but for the whole of critical care.

ACCPs are an expanding proportion of the modern ICU workforce, and I believe we are crucial in delivering quality care for patients and training of the wider MDT. Our scope of practice is ever increasing in line with modern day demand, and I am passionate about utilising the experience, leadership skills and clinical excellence I have accrued to represent my peers and to drive forward and develop the opportunities for ACCPs within critical care.
