Our community is full of people with great ideas for making the future of intensive care even brighter, and we want to support them on their journeys.
In 2021 we established our Innovation Network to bring together innovators, medics, and academics, to share ideas and benefit each other's experiences and connections.
We host forums chaired by our Honorary Treasurer Shondipon Laha and Trustee Hugh Montgomery, where participants are invited to present their projects, answer questions, and get feedback on their ideas. These events are held online and open to anyone interested in tuning in.
The members of our Network are medics, academics and industry professionals who are working on innovative projects and ideas. Our members have either developed, or are developing, products and ideas relating to intensive care, but are not currently employed by a large organisation currently operating in this space. You can find out more about them below.
CPDmatch is a website and app for advertising on-site and virtual healthcare courses, conferences, study days and webinars.
It's used by healthcare-associated providers of education including Royal Colleges, Associations, Specialist Societies, Universities, Deaneries, Employers of NHS Staff, Charities and any organisation primarily focussed on sustainability, planetary or oceanic health.
Designer Richard Hixson, NHS Consultant in Critical Care and founder of Healthcare Ocean, set up the platform after finding that 70% of healthcare staff miss critical opportunities for learning and 30% panic book prior to appraisal. Its focus on virtual or hybrid learning events encourages a sustainable approach to healthcare education.
The platform is free to use for healthcare staff and helps you find the learning you need, wherever you need it.

If you'd like to join our Network simply fill out our expression of interest form and email it to CommunicationsTeam@ics.ac.uk. We’ll then be in touch to invite you to our latest Network forum.
We invite members of our network to present their innovations. These forums are open to anyone who'd like to attend, and are often recorded. Network members will only be asked to present if their project is not already supported by an organisation operating in this space.
