Carrie Adams

I have worked in critical care at Manchester Royal Infirmary for over 20 years, including almost 10 years in advanced practice. I am drawn to the challenge, complexity and unpredictability of critical care and remain passionate about delivering high-quality care to critically ill patients.
Until recently, I also worked as a Lecturer/Practitioner at the University of Salford, where I was part of the faculty team involved in FICM accreditation of the ACCP pathway. This pathway continues to support trainee ACCPs from across the region. I am passionate about education, professional development and maintaining high standards of practice, and continue to contribute to this work through the North West ACCP ARCP group.

My other professional interests include patient safety, particularly the safe delivery of invasive procedures in critical care, antimicrobial stewardship and research.

I strongly believe in the contribution that the ACCP workforce makes to the care of critically ill patients and in the value of the ACCP career pathway. It provides experienced healthcare professionals with the opportunity to advance their clinical practice while developing expertise across the wider pillars of advanced practice, including leadership and management, education and research.
