I’m a Specialty Doctor in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. What a privilege to be appointed to this role. I originally trained in the Thames Valley ICM programme, completing Stage 1 ICM training before moving into a SAS role. I’ve stayed closely involved with training and the regional ICM community, and I’m currently working towards specialist registration through the Portfolio Pathway.

Having experienced both the traditional training route and life as a Specialty Doctor, I’m particularly interested in making sure SAS doctors have a strong voice within intensive care. My own career hasn’t always followed a straight line, and some of the more difficult parts of it have probably taught me as much as the straightforward ones. They’ve left me with a particular interest in how we support colleagues when things go wrong, tackle stigma, and create kinder and more inclusive places to work.

Outside the day-to-day clinical job, I’m involved in teaching, digital improvement, and I remain eagerly involved in the business and governance side of the BHT critical care service. I’m really pleased to be joining the ICS Professional Advisory Group and hope I can bring a useful SAS perspective, while getting to know and representing colleagues working in similar roles across the UK.
