All successful abstracts are published in the Journal of the Intensive Care Society (JICS), our PubMed Indexed Journal.
The Intensive Care Society's Junior Doctor Professional Advisory Group (Trainee PAG) are proud to present the latest edition of The Cauldron.
For this year’s Cauldron you are invited to submit an abstract on – “Mind the Gap: Combating Differential Attainment”.
Despite efforts to promote equality and diversity, differential attainment remains a significant issue within intensive care medicine, with evidence showing disparities in training outcomes, career progression, and leadership representation across gender, ethnicity, disability, and location of primary medical qualification.
What strategies can be implemented at institutional and national levels to address these disparities, and how can we measure the effectiveness of such interventions to ensure that all trainees have equal opportunities for advancement in a career in critical care?
The top five highest scoring abstracts submitted in response to this title will be invited to give a presentation to a panel of critical care clinicians at SOA25 taking place 1-3 July 2025 at the ICC Birmingham. Selected authors will have the opportunity to present their views over 13 minutes (8 minutes presentation, plus 5 minutes of Dragon discussion / grilling!).
Get ready to enter the Dragon’s Lair! Further instructions will be sent to the corresponding author after the review process.
