Kate Godfrey

Kate is a Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing at King’s College London; her critical care nursing career began over 30 years ago with an ICU staff nurse post in 1994, moving into higher education in 2004.  Working at three universities Kate has maintained a focus on critical care nurse education, including 17 years developing and leading a suite of post-registration critical care courses. Alongside teaching, this critical care focus currently includes supervision of students completing masters and doctoral level projects, and acting as an external examiner and advisor for post-qualifying critical care nursing courses. Kate’s doctoral thesis focused on delirium in the ICU and the potential past and current influences on how staff think about it. 

Kate has been a member of the Critical Care Nurse Education Review Forum (CCNERF), the educational sub-group of CC3N, since 2014, valuing the opportunity to work with forum colleagues to develop national standards and competency documents. 

Kate is passionate about championing the voice of critical care nurses and has been a member of the ICS since 2007. Being a member of the nursing PAG provides the opportunity to work with clinical, research and education focused colleagues, to promote the work of the society, from a nursing perspective.
