Sekina Bakare

Dr Sekina Bakare is a Consultant in Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthesia at Hammersmith Hospital, London. She graduated with Honours from the University of Bristol and completed her specialist training in Northwest London. Her clinical expertise includes the management of critically ill patients with complex medical conditions, major oncological surgery, and critical care transfer and retrieval.

Nationally recognised for her leadership in equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), Dr Bakare has served on key national boards and working groups for professional societies and colleges, including the Intensive Care Society. She is the EDI Lead on the Editorial Board for GPCISv3, contributing to the development of inclusive clinical standards.

She has published and presented widely, and remains actively involved in collaborative clinical, academic, and quality improvement initiatives, with a strong focus on innovation, education, and advancing equitable healthcare.
