Mike Carraretto

Dr Mike Carraretto was appointed as a consultant in intensive care and anaesthesia at the Royal Surrey Hospital in Guildford in 2006. He has undertaken amongst other responsibilities, the roles of clinical lead and then clinical director of the ICU, network medical lead for Kent Surrey and Sussex adult critical care network, national Clinical Reference Group (CRG) member and co-chair of the national critical care networks medical leads group.

Mike was a member of the ICS ‘Wellbeing and Resilience Stakeholder Group’, has co-authored chapters in GPICS 3, was part of the CRG that wrote the National Service Specification for Adult Critical Care and contributed to the National Guidance on Establishing and Delivering Enhanced Perioperative Care Services, amongst other work.

Mike is motivated to champion the role of consultant intensivists, represent them and support their work, and through this to improve intensive care for both patients and for the staff working there.
