Steve Allen
Steve is an independent management consultant in health and social care and the immediate past Group CEO of national charity Friends of the Elderly which operates residential, dementia and nursing care homes and dementia centres.He is a Specially Appointed Commissioner for the Royal Hospital Chelsea where he serves on the Health & Wellbeing Committee and the Research Committee, and chairs the Chelsea Pensioners Veterans’ Outreach Committee.
He was the founder of Prime Care, the award-winning, private equity-funded and CQC regulated community care provider. As the former Vice Chair of the government-backed Coast to Capital LEP, a regional development agency, Steve chaired its Enterprise Zone and Digital Catapult working with HM Treasury and Innovate UK.
Born with Cholesteryl Ester Storage Disease (CESD), a rare type of lysosomal acid lipase (LAL) deficiency, Steve has a lifetime of experience as a patient of multi-disciplinary medical teams - for the past decade at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
