Critical care is physically and emotionally demanding on both professionals and their patients.

Our patients are at the extreme limits of survival and we are there 24/7 to care for them and their families. Recruitment and retention of staff is problematic and burnout common. ICS Awards aim to recognise, celebrate and share the exceptional achievements of the whole multi-professional critical care team. So, we invite you submit applications on behalf of your team, colleague(s) or project that falls in to one or more of the categories below. 

Deadline for submissions has been extended until Monday 2 March, 2020 at 5pm. Submissions made after this time will not be counted.

Winners will be asked to join us for a dinner in London with a special guest on Monday 8 June 2020, which marks the founding day of the Intensive Care Society.

Impact Award

Recognises an individual/team who has greatly raised the profile of the Intensive Care Society or by running a successful fundraising campaign at a local/regional/national level.


Patient-centred care Award

Recognises and rewards an individual/team whose project has demonstrated a patient-centred approach to improving care outcomes.


Improvement Project Award

Recognises and rewards an individual/team whose project has demonstrated measurable improvement via implementation of a sustainable change in the provision of patient care.


Welfare and wellbeing Award

Recognises and celebrates an individual/team who has prioritised workforce welfare and wellbeing in the workplace.


Research Award

Recognises and rewards a research team whose work has had a major impact on critical care service provision.


Education Award

Recognises and rewards an individual/team who has developed a sustainable education programme at local/regional/national level to improve patient care.


Innovation Award

Recognises and rewards an individual/team who has developed new innovative ideas, techniques or equipment which have led to significant improvements in patient care.
