Your new Occupational Therapy hub at the Intensive Care Society

James Bruce, Occupational Therapist and Chair of our AHP Advisory Group, invites all Occupational Therapists to join the new OT hub

As an Occupational Therapist working at the Bristol Royal Infirmary Intensive Care Unit, I am delighted to announce the launch of a dedicated Occupational Therapy Hub at the Intensive Care Society.

Occupational therapists working in critical care have a wealth of knowledge and experience, but we have not always had a dedicated space in which to connect and learn from one another.

This group is an opportunity to build that professional community within the ICS, while strengthening the occupational therapy voice across intensive care.

We are looking for founding members to create opportunities to connect with colleagues, exchange practical ideas, share resources and best practice and support professional development across this growing area of practice.

Members will also be able to contribute to conversations about education, research, quality improvement, clinical guidance and the future development of occupational therapy in intensive care.

The group will enable occupational therapists to be better connected to the wider intensive care community, strengthening communication across professions and bringing an occupational therapy perspective to the Society’s work.

I hope colleagues at every stage of their career will feel welcome and want to help shape what comes next.

Whether you are established in intensive care, new to the specialty, or contributing through clinical research and education, we would be very pleased to have you with us.

Our first meeting will be taking place on Monday 2 November 15:00-16:00, email Marie@ics.ac.uk to find out more.

Not an ICS member?

Feel free to come along and find out more about the group before deciding whether or not it’s for you.

James Bruce
