The Intensive Care Society provides evidence to the Palliative Care Commission
The Intensive Care Society has today submitted a response to the Palliative Care Commission call for evidence. It highlights key challenges, including the need for:
- better funding
- improved access to hospice care
- specialist psychological support
- enhanced training for decision-making in critical care
Society President, Professor Shondipon Laha, said
"High-quality palliative care is a fundamental part of critical care. With 1 in 5 intensive care patients sadly dying during their hospital stay, access to compassionate, well-resourced palliative care is more crucial than ever".
The Society is committed to advocating for better resources and support to ensure critically ill patients receive the dignified care they deserve.
