Congratulations to the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM)
On behalf of the Intensive Care Society, I would like to congratulate our colleagues in the Faculty of Intensive Care Medicine (FICM) on becoming the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM).
As the world's oldest specialist intensive care society and long-standing partners in advancing critical care, we warmly welcome efforts to strengthen the specialty. Over the last decade intensive care medicine has demonstrated its worth in sepsis, complex operating, trauma and the pandemic.
We take a huge amount of pride in helping to ensure that intensive care medicine is finally recognised as specialism in its own right. The introduction of a dedicated College demonstrates its importance and equivalency with other medical disciplines. We recognise the important role that a dedicated College can play in driving support for the workforce, and improving outcomes for patients and their families.
We look forward to continuing to collaborate, supporting all our members, the wider intensive care community and the patients and relatives in driving high quality care.
