Resident Doctors Takeover

Starting on intensive care can feel like being dropped into the deep end: new equipment, new language, new team, and a hundred questions you're too afraid to ask out loud.

The Residents Takeover is here to fix that!

Join us for the Resident Doctors takeover of ICS Cast - a new series where two Resident Doctors talk through core topics in intensive care medicine, providing an introduction for those new to the critical care environment.

The Resident Doctors Takeover will help you understand what’s going on, why it’s happening and help you navigate your own role as a new member of this team.

In this series, we chat through everything you need for your first day: the core concepts, the practical skills, the mistakes everyone makes in their first few weeks, and the awkward questions you'll get asked on shift but nobody quite prepared you for.

And while it's told from a resident's point of view, the ground it covers - the kit, the physiology, the thinking behind day-to-day decisions on ICU - makes it just as handy for anyone else working on the unit.

Arterial Lines

In our first episode, Dr Andrew Davidson is joined by Dr Joshua Chambers to discuss the all important arterial lines - where to place them, what they're for and the pitfalls you may face.

Listen on Spotify and Apple Podcasts and stay tuned for more on the Resident Doctors takeover - a fantastic introduction to the world of critical care and your role with it.
