Ruth Dando is a critical care nurse with 37 years of experience in this field. As well as working in general intensive care units she has worked in the specialities of Burns Intensive Care at St Andrews Burns Centre and the Severe Respiratory Failure Service at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust. She completed a master’s degree in Advancing Health Practice in 2014 and is a scholar of the Florence Nightingale Foundation.
Ruth has been involved in supporting the practice of full dose administration in the critical care service at BHRUT over the last 3 years and has recently implemented this practice Trust wide. Through her work in this area she spoke at the House of Lords for the launch of Baroness Bennett’s report ‘Under delivery of IV antibiotics could be a leading cause of antimicrobial resistance in the UK’ as well as at the IPC Conference, Birmingham, April 2024, ‘Under delivery of IV antibiotics – A hidden contributor to the global AMR crisis.
