This session will bring together world leading international and national experts in palliative medicine to talk about why, when it comes to ICU, palliative medicine is about more than ‘end of life’ care. We will be discussing the current evidence base for interventions on the ICU as well as what is needed now to further our knowledge, opening-up opportunities for palliative medicine in the ICU and for those with chronic and life limiting illness, how we can engage with parallel planning in a way that respects individual needs and values. This is a session that should appeal to the whole MDT, whether you work in a district general or tertiary centre. Modernising palliative medicine on your unit is everyone’s business!
