The new Intensive Care Society Guidelines on the Transfer of the Critically Ill Patient 2025 push the boundaries of previous standards as well as establish new expectations for all transfers regardless of destination, location or team undertaking them.  This session explores the continued development of ACCTS, examines the challenges faced by us all in meeting the transfer needs of our patients and explores some of the contemporary issues and controversies that have been highlighted by a new-found focus on critical care transfer.

1) Understand the major changes and context of the ICS Transfer of the Critically Ill Patient guidelines 2025

2) Explore the current provision of Adult Critical Transfer Services across the United Kingdom and the learning gained so far

3) Understand the challenges faced by referring hospitals in delivering high quality transfer care

4) Understand the essential role of the practitioner in critical care transfer now and in the future
