The Intensive Care Society is committed to fostering excellence in critical care research across all professional groups. The ICS Rising Star Award is presented annually to an early career investigator (doctor, nurse, allied health professional) who has demonstrated outstanding contributions to science relevant to intensive care. This session will feature presentations from four shortlisted candidates, each showcasing their original research. Delegates will have the opportunity to hear these emerging voices in critical care, followed by a moderated Q&A with an expert academic panel and the ICS Directors of Research.

Chosen speakers:

1. Finn Catling: Cardiovascular heterogeneity in septic shock and potential for personalised treatment based on the arterial pressure waveform

2. Timothy Snow: Modulation of the immune system in critical illness – The intended and unintended consequences of drugs used in treatment

3. Andrew Boyle: Understanding mechanisms and heterogeneity of lung injury in the critically ill

4. Harleen Johal: The CRITICAL study: Conflict Resolution in the Intensive Care Unit for Incapacitated Adults
