Dr Suzy O'Neill

Suzy is a consultant in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine at the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. She is also the Training Programme Director for ACCS and ICM in NHSE North East and North Cumbria and co-chair of the Intercollegiate Committee for ACCS, as well as being a consultant appraiser and Schwartz Round Facilitator in her Trust. Suzy is passionate about mentoring. She has an ILM level 5 qualification in mentoring and coaching and provides mentoring for health care professionals.
She says: ‘mentoring is a fantastic opportunity to talk about dilemmas and opportunities related to work or life outside of work in a confidential and safe environment. It enables the mentee to take ownership of their own development and navigate barriers to reach their full potential; and to achieve outcomes which matter to them and align with their values. From the evidence base (and my own personal experience as a mentee) mentoring can enhance your confidence, wellbeing and problem-solving skill as well as reducing burnout and stress. Please come along for a taster!’
