Divisions and Committees
There are five Divisions of our Council, to represent our members and provide opportunities for them to shape the direction of both intensive care and the Society. All members are eligible to join the Committees which make up each Division.
Standards and Guidelines Committee
– Our standards and guidelines are a major focus of the Society’s work, and this Committee provide professional expertise to develop them.
National Rehabilitation Collaborative
– This Collaborative launched in 2020 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and is focussed on the development of post ICU patient rehabilitation best practice.

Patients and Relatives Committee
– Members of our Patients and Relatives Committee are not healthcare professionals, but they do have experience of intensive care, either as patients, loved ones of patients, or as a result of their work. They help us develop materials for patients and relatives, to help them understand what happens in an ICU.
Digital Media Group
– Our Digital Media Group assist us with the production of events such as State of the Art, and with the recording of our podcasts.

Professional Advisory Groups (PAGs)
– The Society currently has eight PAGs, to which all members are eligible to stand for election. These groups provide our Council with professional advice and expertise, and you can find more information about them on our Professional Advisory Groups page.
Wellbeing and Resilience Through Education (WARE) Project
– Our WARE Project is led by Dr Julie Highfield, and provides ICU staff with the knowledge and tools they need to thrive in a high pressure working environment. All materials have been developed specifically for staff working in ICU.
